Train connections between Italy and France are broken

Today, in the Italian region of Liguria (Liguria) due to bad weather the train went off the rails, heading to neighboring France, reports the magazine Corriere della Sera. The intercity train that followed the Milan-Ventimiglia route went downhill, resulting in two injured drivers.

At the moment, about 20 people need medical care. At the time of the crash, there were about 200 passengers on the train who were forced to walk to the nearest station.

According to local media reports, the collapse of the passenger train was due to a landslide that covered the train on the border with France. The accident occurred at 12:45 local time, a couple of minutes after an avalanche of snow was on the rails. Due to an emergency, a certain section of the track was damaged, so the movement of trains heading to a neighboring country was temporarily suspended. Repair services intend to begin the restoration of a mangled railway track in the near future. Meanwhile, the country's authorities are urging all citizens to exercise caution in connection with bad weather conditions.

This is not the only such incident in Italy in the last week. A couple of days ago, at one of the stations in Florence (Firenze), a train also went off the rails. As a result of the accident, a young man of 34 years died, with his wife and children. The dead was one of the workers at the local station. His colleagues claim that the man was an excellent specialist and knew his job very well. The incident occurred when a victim with other station employees connected wagons to a passenger train.

How exactly the accident occurred, the police of Florence have not yet established.

Unfortunately, a couple of days ago, another tragedy occurred. This time in northern Sweden, a train knocked down a whole herd of rare deer listed in the Red Book. According to local publications, the animals tried to get away from the train rushing at full speed, but instinctively they fled from the line. The braking distance of the train was about a kilometer, so noble animals simply did not have a chance of salvation. The accident in Lapland killed 48 individuals, which is the most massive accident that led to the death of deer. Rare reindeer are often the victims of speed trains.

So, in the last year alone, about 200 rare deer, which the local population is so proud of, were killed under trains in the country.

The authorities of northern Europe are seriously concerned about the increasing accidents that lead to the death of noble animals. Thus, the Norwegian government decided to equip the deer with the so-called retroreflectors, which foresters should soon install on the horns of ten thousand local ungulates. Thus, the country's authorities hope to significantly reduce the number of accidents in which rare animals suffer.
